Nestour GPS release notes

Every version of Nestour GPS, newest first, from the first line of code on 24 October 2026 up to 0.15.0. 🆕 marks the latest release.

🆕 0.15.0 · 5 November 2026

  • 🆕 The beta key. The beta now needs your personal beta key. Paste it once in Setup → 🔑 Keys & AI → 🎟 Beta key → Save, and the app starts again in the beta. The key is checked on the device, without going online, and ends with the beta on 28 February 2027.
  • 🆕 Without a key the app is a simple GPS: the standard map, your position, the instruments, speed signs, recording a trip, and your data. Searches, place info, planning, routes, turn by turn, other maps, the 3D map and logbook exports say « This needs your beta key ». Your data is never touched: enter the key and everything is back.

0.14.0 · 5 November 2026

  • The beta edition: 10 trips kept, 10 routes, 10 plans and 25 favourites. At a limit the app offers to remove the oldest (it names it) or to see the licences; it never deletes anything on its own.
  • App languages in the beta: English, French, Chinese and Finnish. Descriptions and facts still come in every language.
  • Export keys file waits for a licence; Import keys file stays.
  • Help → Send feedback opens the form on nestour.app with the version, platform and language filled in.
  • New versions: once a day the app asks nestour.app whether a new version is out. Only the version number goes along, and you can turn it off.
  • Light or dark: follow the device, or stay light or dark.
  • Clearer lists: routes, plans and past trips get the name in bold across the whole width, with the buttons below.

0.13.3 · 5 November 2026

  • Export keys file (Setup → 🔑 Keys & AI): hand this device's keys to your other phones and tablets in one file.
  • The beta install guide in French, with every key explained.

0.13.2 · 5 November 2026

  • Automatic zoom: Off, By speed, or Smart (the default): close up in town, the whole search radius on the motorway, and nearer before a junction or a ★★★ place.
  • Lanes and exit signs in the turn-by-turn banner, from 1 km before an exit: one arrow per lane, the lanes to take in blue, the sign with its number, road and towns, in the country's colours.

0.13.1 · 5 November 2026

  • Descriptions in your language more often: a place with no article in your language gets the one in its own language (German in Hamburg) before English, translated by your AI.
  • Setup → 🔎 Places → Translate other languages with my AI, on by default.

0.13.0 · 2–5 November 2026

  • Linux: an AppImage for Omarchy, Arch and other x86_64 distributions.
  • Hiking and winter maps: Mapy.com (trails, ski runs, huts, all of Europe) and France's IGN SCAN 25 at 1:25,000.
  • Speed signs that read the whole road ahead: with a TomTom key, the guided route brings the limit of each stretch, right even when OpenStreetMap is down.
  • Your own map search server (Overpass), asked first, with the public servers as backup.
  • A data limit in money instead of MB; show or hide each instrument; contacts from the phone and Nextcloud; TomTom and Mappy as route choices; simulation at ×1 and ×5.

0.12.6 · 2 November 2026

  • The sign wheel gets tighter: the signs overlap a little, the current one on top, the edges fading.
  • A finished simulation parks the vehicle and clears its arrival time.

0.12.5 · 2 November 2026

  • Button sizes now reach tabs, lists, dialogs and menus; routes, plans and trips by place go down to the city.
  • The simulator searches for places as it goes (every 30 s to 5 min), and its km counter stops during pauses.
  • A trip started while parked leaves the way the car last drove; confirmations before removing a key; 65 languages.

0.12.4 · 2 November 2026

  • Arrival times at the next stop and the destination in the map's bottom strip; the map buttons grow with the button size.

0.12.3 · 2 November 2026

  • The trip computer: total km, « From reset » with its own average consumption, « Since departure » always in sight, and the range from your dashboard counting down to the next fill-up.

0.12.2 · 2 November 2026

  • ✎ From the car: type in the odometer and the dashboard figures, and the trip computer counts on from there.

0.12.1 · 2 November 2026

  • Speed signs that stay calm at slip roads: the road you are on counts double, and a sudden drop while you are still fast waits 15 seconds.
  • 📍 I'm here: mark the next stop as reached when the GPS hesitates indoors.
  • The sign wheel of 3, 4 or 6 signs; preview the route in the app with km, time, traffic, fuel and cost.
  • 🚆 Swiss departures (train, boat, tram, bus) near a place, and IGN maps for France and Spain.

0.12.0 · 1–2 November 2026

  • A voice button on the map: off, beeps, spoken.
  • Button sizes S to XL and a 12 h or 24 h clock.
  • Share this trip with its logbook and trip file, and export all trips in one tick.
  • Routes that start in the direction the car faces, so a reversed trip no longer begins with a U-turn.

0.11.3 · 31 October 2026

  • Routes, plans, past trips and favourites by place: country, region and city.
  • A cover and back page on every PDF.

0.11.2 · 31 October 2026

  • Place types in your language (a museum says « musée » in French), and the 3D map stays where you looked.

0.11.1 · 31 October 2026

  • One country in every language: « Suisse » and « Switzerland » are the same place.

0.11.0 · 31 October 2026

  • 🏔 The 3D map (experimental): the mountains stand up, with your route and places on them.

0.10.5 · 31 October 2026

  • 🗺 Preview route & costs: Google Maps and ViaMichelin side by side, in routes and the plan editor.

0.10.4 · 31 October 2026

  • Popups that sit still while the map follows, trips that stay after a restart, Simple and All Setup, colour-blind traffic colours.

0.10.3 · 31 October 2026

  • Skip a waypoint in one tap, with Undo.

0.10.2 · 31 October 2026

  • The way back: start any route or trip in reverse. Free time in routes, and a tidier Setup.

0.10.1 · 31 October 2026

  • Motorway points fixed, help inside the app, and the guides for 0.10.

0.10.0 · 30 October 2026

  • The trip computer: car statistics, consumption and range.
  • Heading-up map, map tiles kept for offline use, warnings when you leave the plan, and photos in the logbook PDF.

0.9.5 · 30 October 2026

  • Voice guidance, your vehicles, an automatic travel mode, live GPS as soon as a trip starts, and TomTom as a fallback.

0.9.4 · 30 October 2026

  • Trips that start by themselves hear the GPS from the first second.

0.9.3 · 30 October 2026

  • The app gets its name, Nestour GPS, and its icon: a pin on an 1888 map of Lake Geneva.
  • Several AIs side by side, visits up to ten hours, free time in a plan, and places that greet you as you arrive.
  • The first user guides in English and French, and the technical reference.

0.9.2 · 29 October 2026

  • Your own AI, swisstopo maps, blue for flowing traffic, and plain waypoints without a place.

0.9.1 · 29 October 2026

  • Positions no longer wait for the internet, and a debug log for the rest.

0.9.0 · 29 October 2026

  • A photo of each place from Wikimedia Commons, credited, under its description.
  • A monthly data limit for roaming: pictures stop first, then searches wait for Wi-Fi.
  • During a trip, a tap on a place opens a popup with its photo, description, facts, Go and favourite.
  • Favourites by kind or by place: country, region, town.

0.8.8 · 29 October 2026

  • A 100 sign in Swiss tunnels.

0.8.7 · 29 October 2026

  • The speed signs move to the left of the map.

0.8.6 · 29 October 2026

  • A tidier Setup, 120 on Swiss motorways, and a clock for the simulator.

0.8.5 · 29 October 2026

  • Keys are shown as you type them, with no autocorrect.

0.8.4 · 29 October 2026

  • TomTom works on every device, and its key stays off the screen.

  • Waze and TomTom GO go to the next stop or straight to the finish, your choice.

0.8.2 · 28 October 2026

  • Go your way: Waze, TomTom GO, or guided right here on TomTom's roads.

0.8.1 · 28 October 2026

  • The logbook remembers the traffic: jams, accidents, closures, roadworks and diversions.

0.8.0 · 28 October 2026

  • Trip plans with a timetable: pauses, leave at or arrive by, nights where the hours run out, and live TomTom traffic.

0.7.1 · 28 October 2026

  • The app speaks 67 languages.

0.7.0 · 28 October 2026

  • Turn by turn, with the exit you can't miss, and the road's speed limit one tap away.

0.6.0 · 28 October 2026

  • Seven languages and metric, US or UK units.

0.5.0 · 28 October 2026

  • The full logbook: roads, towns, places seen, highs and weather, in time order.

0.4.1 · 28 October 2026

  • End trip really ends the trip, signs stay up, exported files can be found, and screen, share, print and data work on Android.

0.4.0 · 28 October 2026

  • The 🛰 Instruments tab: dials, charts, min and max, accuracy and the satellite sky.
  • Travelling by: the detected travel mode lights up, one tap corrects it.
  • Nights: End of day pauses the GPS, Start day goes on, and the logbook gets its days.
  • The logbook as a PDF, with days, costs and weather.
  • Next up shows the best five places, stars first.

0.3.1 · 28 October 2026

  • Import a keys file from another device, Google sign-in included.

0.2.7 · 27 October 2026

  • Speed signs with a beep over the limit, and a road log with numbers, limits and top speeds.
  • Trips that know their cost, the weather and how far you wandered off; trips that survive a power cut.
  • Android activity recognition: walking, driving or on a train, leg by leg in the logbook.
  • Look elsewhere without losing your GPS, the screen stays on during a trip, standard, satellite or terrain map, and exports that work on the phone.

0.2.1 → 0.2.6 · 27 October 2026

  • Places show what they are (a castle, a church, a view) on the map; Claude answers the app.
  • Every Test button says what happened; Google sign-in survives the trip to the browser; an error always says what went wrong.

  • Android: the GPS keeps going with the screen off, and trip notifications have a Go button.
  • Keys and AI in Setup.

The Home Assistant card · 24–26 October 2026

  • 24 October: the places worth a stop around you, with stars; a Go button, a Setup tab, country and city search, and backup servers when OpenStreetMap is down.
  • 25 October: the Trip tab and a logbook to Google and Nextcloud; Go with ViaMichelin; GPS pages with dials and the satellite sky; descriptions in 63 languages, translated by your AI; waypoints by tapping the map; long trips in stretches of 8; routes, plans and favourites with notes, websites and what3words; contacts from Nextcloud and Google; motorway points.
  • 26 October: record a trip as you go; travel modes (walking, bicycle, car, motorbike, public transport); favourite categories; colour-blind colour schemes; the 🎬 trip simulator; the full-screen map.
